Donate Vegan Food to Those in Need

Chances are you will have some leftovers from your wedding, whether its buffet, plated, and pot-luck. Whether you’re working with a caterer or yourself, make sure that extra food doesn’t go in the trash while you jet off to your honeymoon.

Many food banks will only take canned food and other non-perishable items and your wedding food will be already prepared. However, different than a food bank donation, many food rescue programs exist. Read Feeding America’s guide to donating perishable food here. You can also use their website to find a local program to donate to here.

Imagine being able to provide vegan options to those suffering from hunger, and not only vegan but gourmet wedding dishes. Your caterer may have experience with arranging post-event food recovery so all you have to do is ask. Remember, coordination in advance is key to making a successful donation so add this to your to-do list to make your wedding even more earth-friendly!
